About The Masterclass
The transition from bodice to sleeve on a tailored garment can be treated in a number of ways.
Flat and smooth versions are the kimono and raglan style, as well as the flat crown set in sleeve. The classic tailored set in sleeve is covered, as well as the pronounced roped sleeve head. More exaggerated styles, where sleeve and garment are clearly demarcated and can become architectural features, are the darted, gathered or pleated sleeve heads which are also covered.
On this masterclass learn how to adapt a 2 piece block pattern for different styles. Various sleeve patterns are available to purchase from our shop.
Then explore how to tailor the individual sleeve styles with variations of plain hem, vented cuff or separate cuffs and the use of a buttoned tab. Learn how to make the right preparations to the armholes, use the appropriate interlinings and paddings in the sleeves.
