About The Masterclass

The classic pencil skirt has been a staple in every ladies wardrobe for many decades.

On this masterclass you will learn how to manufacture a skirt using the traditional techniques as used by the best tailors in couture ateliers. From cutting out and adding the appropriate seam allowances, construction of a one sided back vent, pressing techniques, zip insertion by hand, hemming, covering a waistband and hand lining the skirt, everything is shown step-by-step in great detail. A plain skirt pattern with a centre back and side seams has been used to show the techniques. A pattern in various sizes is available to purchase from our shop.

This easy to follow masterclass is a perfect start for sewers interested to expand their tailoring skills and to pocket a few couture trade secrets along the way.

Once you have completed the course you can contact us for personalised feedback and an evaluation. You must have watched all videos and produced your own work following the tuition. We will make an assessment and if you have met the learning outcomes, we will issue a certificate.
